My Approach
The fundamental approach I take to therapy is “present-centered” and “somatic,” that is, body and feeling oriented. For example, as we talk, I may guide you into an awareness of what you feel in both your body and the emotional realm. While this way of interacting may feel a bit unfamiliar at first, it is these two places—the body and emotions—that are the most direct gateways past the stories of the mind, and into the core of where both the pain and the healing in us reside. In this holistic approach to psychotherapy I have been influenced greatly by my ongoing study and training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Therapy (AEDP), a highly effective model for change, growth and healing developed by the renowned clinical psychologist, Diana Fosha Ph.D.
